Purchased the new Nanoleaf Hexagon Shapes and four days later and spending way too much time and effort these are not pairing up to Apple Home.
Each time I attempt to pair up a message appears stating an ‘ unknown error has occurred’
I’ve read the Nanoleaf Manuals
I’ve read the Nanoleaf Troubleshooting
I’ve been onto a Facebook group for help
I’ve spent 2hours 20min on the phone to my internet provider ensuring all settings are as per the Nanoleaf guidance
I’ve even driven a 80 mile round trip to Apple to get them to run diagnostics on my phone.
The Nanoleaf device still refuses to pair up!
Now the problems start with Nanoleaf once you have a problem and need expert assistance in their product. You cannot actually speak with any employee of Nanoleaf. The only option you have is to play email ping pong with them for them to tell you what you’ve already read and done as per their set up manuals and troubleshooting guides.
Wouldn’t it be great if you could actually speak with a Nanoleaf technician or better still book in a FaceTime appointment so that you can show them exactly what you are doing and they could at least provide you with guidance... but NO, this is not an option from a Technology Business that’s in the market of Smart Lighting so there’s nothing smart about them in my opinion.
So far the purchase has been a total displeasure, there’s nothing enjoyable about spending your hard earned money on a product that offers very little in terms of Consumer support.
Light panels constantly drop off network despite being next to router. It is an absolute pig to get working again. support are useless and unhelpful. avoid

I loved my nanoleaf until we switched network and it now will not accept my pairing code. Support is ignoring all my requests.
I have had the lights since they came out, they have always been a pain to connect to the app, and they keep on disconnecting, so I over paid for a led light that doesn’t do what it’s advertised, I would love to get my money back but I guess it is too late as it has been so many year with a useless light; I would never recommend this product.
Yeah they look nice, but their connection to the Wi-Fi is very flaky with it often dropping, they also use up a surprising amount of power even when turned off and they are extremely over priced. talking to their support department to try and fix the connection issues is like banging your head against a brick wall. I think they have employed and outsourced bargain basement automated support company who's answer to everything is just too hard reset the panels. Really not helpful.
They worked for about a month before randomly starting to turn themselves on and off. Have been in contact with “customer service” for over 3 months trying to get a fix and still no further forward. We’ve had to jump through many hoops sending multiple videos, photos and explanations and still no replacement that was promised had arrived.
The lights connected the first time when hooked up to the app then disconnected 5 mins later. We have never been able to reconnect them so have lost most of the functionality of the lights.
Complete waste of time and money.
Physical products: great. Nicely designed, well put-together, easy to take down and put up.
App: LITERALLY UNUSABLE, DO NOT BUY THESE PRODUCTS. The app is necessary for literally all the core functionality, and the most basic functions of the app (connecting to panels, for example) don't work and often result in crashes-to-desktop. DO NOT BUY.
I bought the Nanoleaf Lightpanels. Unable to pair them. Contacted support but didn't hear from them since a long time. They have expensive products and to see this kind of support or quality for simple pairing is just amazing. As a programmer myself I think the Nanoleaf app is also pretty bad. Lots of bugs and they didn't even think about user experience.
Poor quality for these prices and worst customer support ever seen.
I ordered the Light Panels in October, arrived quickly and even more quickly the lights became problematic. can't pair, they don't use any wifi other than a 2.4 ghz.... almost every home in the developed world is using dual 5 and 2.4.... nanoleaf products do NOT work if you have a modern router/phone because they literally DO NOT SUPPORT new wifi. these lights run ONLY on 2,4... well most new smartphones, Alexa, Google, Apple home all NEED 5ghz to operate.... so they are pretty much incompatible with any smart home products made post 2018. Customer service is a NIGHTMARE... only work Mon-fri (convenently when people also work and are unlikely to be NEAR the lights...) prefer online support over phone, and always take at least 24-48 hours to reply to any message. I'm now on controller number 3 they have sent me and I am seriously considering legal action if they refuse to refund me. This company needs to be exposed for the scam artists they appear to be. Happy to take a LOT of money for an outdated, defective out of the box product. Save yourself the trouble and buy some overseas knock off.... they'll probably work better than these.
A bit expensive, but The lights simply are amazing, beautiful colors, I responsive app, anything, there’s just too many options, which is an a problem. Then, you could have it set so it wakes you up with the same color and tone is the sun rise, and the same exact time, coming on slowly for natural wake up, the same thing for sunset and every other possible configuration you can imagin. Again, it’s a bit pricey for only none lights, but on the other hand, I want more lights just for more places, the nine lights illuminate A massive area of the house yes I choose it to be,
I have been wanting to buy their new product, which is touch responsive, but it’s even more expensive, worse, it’s been out of stock for The several months, seems like a big wasted opportunity for the company as far as production. The remote sucks though, don’t waste your money on it.
Ordered Thursday night, came Saturday morning even earlier then expected. Connected them all and they are amazing. Easy to setup and easy to control from the Nanoleaf app. Will definitely be purchasing the expansion pack when its in stock.
